See you at FinovateSpring 2010, S.F. May 11th
May 3, 2010Yodlee is looking forward to attending the FinovateSpring2010 conference in San Francisco on May 11th finovate.com/spring2010/. Our team is hard at work completing the platform that won Yodlee the “Best of Show” award last fall at Finovate2009.
While Yodlee won’t be giving any presentations at this event, we will be there and are looking forward to seeing the new innovative finance sites, our Partners present and talking with the Developers that are transforming the financial services industry.
Currently, Yodlee has FinApp Developers that are actively discussing their ideas on the Yodlee FinApp Forum developer@yodlee.com and using the FinApp Developer Beta platform available on Yodlee.com. Over the next month, Yodlee will be doing our first big update to that platform bringing in some key features:
- New APIs – To bring in account management, history, bills and more
- External API Calls – Ability for a Yodlee-hosted FinApp to make calls out to external APIs so you can use existing code/functionality without the need to re-write it inside the FinApp
- External FinApp Hosting – Ability for a FinApp to be hosted outside of Yodlee and make calls into APIs on behalf a user – think Facebook App, Google Gadget, MacOS Dashboard, etc.
So make sure to look for us at FinovateSpring2010. We’ll have business development and technical people there including Jordan Reed, Deepu Kocherry, Suman Sarkar and others. We’d love to talk with you about getting your FinApp started.
Best,
Jordan Reed

Data in the Yodlee Platform
March 3, 2010Since our first webinar last week, there has been some great discussions going on in the Yodlee Forum (http://forum.yodlee.com) as well as through e-mail (developer@yodlee.com) where developers have been talking about business ideas and technologies ideas for widgets. One of the biggest questions developers keep asking us is, “what type of information will my widget have access to?”
As a platform, Yodlee is focused on financial services. The Yodlee PersonalFinance application is all about giving a person a total view of their financial life by letting them see every financial account they have. It’s been a long time since people had all of their finances at a single bank. These days over two-thirds of people’s financial accounts are held outside their primary bank, and the average person has over ten accounts! People have a checking and savings account, retirement, credit cards, loans, mortgages, CD and investments spread across a wide range of institutions and that makes it hard for someone to get a clear financial picture. Yodlee PersonalFinance solves that problem for the individual and developer widgets can build off of that data.
Through a variety of methods Yodlee PersonalFinance allows an individual to gather all of their different financial information into the Yodlee platform. Once it’s there, the new widget platform and APIs allow you, a developer, to visualize and interact with the data to help the user better manage their finances.
Most of the information you see in an online channel is available inside of the Yodlee data model. So for a banking account you have access to current balance, available balance, account type, etc. You can pull back all of the transactions associated to that account, including the user categories, to help users understand spending and plan ahead. You can look at interest rates across accounts to suggest moving to better places.
For a credit card, you can see some levels of the interest rates and what the outstanding balance with that is.
For a wireless bill, you can see the breakdown of usage.
What’s the best way for you to figure out what data is available? Become an active user of Yodlee MoneyCenter. You can join directly at moneycenter.yodlee.com or through one of the many institutions that offer our products.
